Gianluca Olmastroni Gianluca Olmastroni film and video editor in Toronto

I am a Toronto-based film editor with a penchant for short-form arthouse drama and genre-blending storytelling. As I’m moving towards long-form, I’m happy to take detours in factual and non-scripted content.

During my film studies academic journey I focused on the 1960s and 1970s, from the Italian masters of dark comedy to the New Hollywood generation.

I became fond of filmmakers who envisioned tools and styles ahead of their time and shaped contemporary cinema. As an all-around filmmaker who has decided to funnel everything into editing, I have produced, written, and directed, too. Thus I am always interested in working on exciting projects in film, digital media, and creative initiatives beyond.

With 15 years in film/media production across two continents, I am experienced in multiple creative, technical and management roles. I have run my own video production studio and I am used to working in teams, having held many different positions inside them.

I have a comprehensive home studio set up, but I also am mobile and flexible when it comes to contracts and work hours. I am drawn to the energy of doing on-set work.

I am fluent in various software and workflows, and I do my best to stay caught up with the always evolving technology. I'm comfortable with (but not limited to) the whole Adobe suite (including Premiere Pro, After Effects and Photoshop), Avid Media Composer, Apple Final Cut Pro X, DaVinci Resolve.

When I am not working, I enjoy photography, walking around the city, cooking and, as you may have imagined, coffee ☕️

Grab yourself a cup of coffee, and take a look around! There are many examples of my previous work. Feel free to use any of the social media links below, or the Contact page.
